What is functional rhinoplasty?

Functional rhinoplasty is surgery that improves the way the nose works. It corrects structural problems that block airflow and cause symptoms such as a constantly blocked nose, mouth breathing, snoring or poor sleep. It can be performed on its own or together with aesthetic changes in a single operation (septorhinoplasty).

Problems that can be treated

• Deviated septum – a crooked dividing wall inside the nose (septoplasty)
• Enlarged turbinates – swollen structures on the side walls that cause chronic congestion
• Nasal valve collapse – weak sidewalls that narrow when you breathe in
